Healthy Hair Tips

Did you know the average head has over 100,000 hairs on it! Not all hair grows at the same time. Only about 9 out of 10 hairs are actively growing at any one time. The rest are in a “resting” state. Usually we lose about 100 hairs each day.

Here are some healthy hair tips:

• Before you wash your hair, brush it. This will remove any lose dirt. If dirt remains while you rub your hair, the coarse grains can damage strands of hair.
• Massaging your scalp is great for your hair. It will help increase the circulation in your scalp and thus aiding hair growth.
• Do not over-wash your hair. Only wash it when it feels like it needs it. Too much washing can damage it and prevent a healthy look!
• Unless your hair is naturally oily, you must use some kind of moisturizer on it. It is not “natural” for our hair to have soap on it so often. The soap is very drying and damaging to normal hair.
• Try using a dilute vinegar solution to rinse your hair with. It will give it a healthy shine!
• The next of our healthy hair tips is about drying. Try to let your hair dry naturally. Squeeze it out and blot it with a towel. Over rubbing it with a towel can damage the hair. Also, any conditioner you used will stay in it better.
• Do not use a brush on your hair until it is dry. This too can damage your hair. Wet hair is more vulnerable to damage than dry hair.
• These healthy hair tips may be the toughest! Do not use curling irons or hair dryers! These are extremely damaging! If you must, make sure you do not use too high of heat. The heat can especially damage the tips of the hair.

Healthy Hair Tips about conditioners:

• Ask a professional what type you need for your hair. Do not buy just any bottle at the discount store. Not all hair conditioners are created equal!
• Shampoo your hair and only pat dry with a towel before applying conditioner. Start at the roots and work down to the tips of your hair.
• Rub the conditioner in gently and thoroughly. Allow your hair to stay wet with the conditioner in it for as long as possible.
