Although it is also used to help the body excel in specific athletic activities, its main benefit to the body is health. It is well known that proper exercise can help prevent many types of diseases and conditions including, but not limited to heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Exercise can also improve the joint’s and muscle’s ranges of motion, increase aerobic capacity, and increase the body’s overall strength. Healthy bones and joints are dependent upon proper exercise.
Nutrition is also vital for health. And exercising makes it even more important as the body depletes nutrients and energy used up during the exercise. A proper diet must include all the nutrients and building blocks the body uses to repair and rebuild damaged and depleted tissue. The science of nutrition studies the relationship between the foods we eat and our overall health. Nutrition professionals help us plan better diets which fulfill our body’s needs. Improper nutrition can cause a wide range of conditions and has been associated with arthritis, cancer, and immune deficiencies
Our lifestyle also can have a major impact on our health. The extremes of a very sedentary life and an extremely fast paced and stressful life can both be very detrimental to overall health. The lack of exercise in a sedentary lifestyle often results in obesity and many other health complications. Likewise, a stressful life can lead to cardiovascular problems and other conditions. Mental health is defined as being in a state of wellness whereas a person is able to use there emotional abilities to perform in the world and meet the normal obstacles in their daily life. |
